Achieving A Goal!

3 summers ago after being married a few months josh and I decided that we would have a Family Night to set goals we'd like to achieve together. One of those goals was to run a half marathon by the time we were 30! Fast forward to the start of this summer I had just started running again since having logan and was having a hard time sticking with it. I knew that our lives were only going to get busier so I suggested to Josh we run the TOU half this year. We signed up and shortly after signing up wondered what we had gotten ourselves into :) With NO refund on the run we began our 12 week training program. I must admit there were days i didn't want to walk let alone RUN the miles that were set to be ran on our program. But I'm so happy that we did and that on days I didn't feel like running I had Josh to motivate me. We loved having Logan during our training and was something I missed during the actual race.
The day of the race was nerve racking and very intimidating. We took a bus to the start line were they had a line up according to the "expected" time that we would finish, we sat at about 2:30 line. As the gun sounded I got teary eyed thinking of all the work we had done and that we were achieve this goal. We started off down blacksmith fork canyon felling great, going about 10 minute miles. I decided I'd use GU blocks during the run which was probably just the thing that got me through our race. At mile 11 i think we were ready to be done, but we were to close not to finish :) Some things i want to remember are....

1. Running with Josh
2. Finishing our run faster than our goal time at 2:13
3. The runners that would walk and than sprint past us for the first few miles
4. Knowing that Tiffany was running next to me
5. Seeing the finish line
6. Seeing Logan at the finish line with Mom and Dad W.
7. At the Mouth of the canyon all the Families cheering on their loved ones
8. Seeing Signs that read "Go Mommy" "We love you Mom"
9. People encouraging each other to keep going
10. The people in their front yards the last mile cheering us on
11. Seeing alittle girl the last 1/2 mile reminding me of Tiffany !
12. Holding hands with Josh through the FINISH LINE
13. The little community of RUNNING friends :)

It was a very emotional day and something that I'd love to do again! So Proud we could achieve one of our goal, August 27, 2011 is going down in our Family History :)
